His work is not just pictures of his native nature: the artist created symbolic images of the blessed and simultaneously tragic God's world.

Yelabuga is a city of childhood and adolescence of the artist. Here he was born and grew up, here he got strength for his creative work. Already becoming a famous master, he often visited his native land, where in the forests of Yelabuga, in the open air he found beautiful landscape views for his future paintings.

During a long life Shishkin created several hundred paintings, thousands of graphic works - drawings, etchings, lithographs and zincographies.
