Regulations on the conduct of Biennale
The history of art symposiums in Yelabuga begins in 2006, when the first All-Russian open-air session was held. It was dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the birth of our countryman, I.I. Shishkin and the upcoming 1000th anniversary of Elabuga. Almost immediately, art symposia held with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan with the participation of artists and masters of decorative and applied art from Europe, and Asia, became ethnic. Since 2010, the project has received international status.
The international art project “ Yelabuga Ex-Libris Triennial”, started in 2012 and aims to support and further develop traditional-classical printing graphics techniques, to popularize the current level of ex-libris in the world.
In 2017, a new graphic project “Yelabuga Biennale of a Unique Design” took place. The art project focuses on popularizing the traditions of the Russian realistic school of drawing and modern trends in the development of the original graphics.
In 2018, the first international creative laboratory of young artists “Bashnya” was held. The aim of the project is to create a platform for the development and formation of creative relations between the young talents of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.
In total, for 13 years, the Yelabuga State Museum-Reserve organized and conducted 22 art projects, which were attended by 796 artists from more than 100 cities in 25 countries - Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Hungary, Egypt, India, Canada, Kazakhstan, China , Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Portugal, Russia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, France, Montenegro, Czech Republic, Scotland (Great Britain), Ethiopia. In total, they created 1416 works transferred to the EGMZ funds to replenish the Museum Fund of the Russian Federation.
The II Yelabuga Biennale of a unique drawing will help to support and assist the development of the original drawing and attract the attention of professional artists. The event is held in the form of an absentee contest with the selection of works sent to the museum-reserve and the organization of the final exhibition of participants.
Stage 1: until July 10, 2019, to the address of the organizing committee images of works should be sent in digital format TIFF, JPEG (at least 300 dpi, 18 cm on the large side). Each image is sent as a separate file. Each file is signed as follows: name, title of the work. The works are accompanied by a completed application form and the Supplement in Microsoft Word format, which contains full information about the author (name, year of birth, address, telephone, e-mail), information about the submitted works (author’s full name, name of work, year of creation, technique, size (height and width in cm.) The number of images proposed for the 1st stage should not exceed five.
Stage 2: the works that passed the selection (1 work of the participant) must be sent before September 1, 2019 (by postmark).
- support and further development of the traditional classical drawing, popularization of the modern level of the drawing;
- the revival of interest of modern artists to the traditional-classical techniques and art of drawing;
- analysis of the current state of this direction in the art of Russia, which becomes possible at the level of creative communication and the exchange of ideas of recognized masters;
- acquisition of the collection of unique graphics of the Yelabuga State Museum-Reserve.
Technical conditions of the Biennale
Participation - at the invitation of the curators of the exhibition or individual with a preview of the organizing committee. Individual participation - through the virtual exhibition; Photographs should be sent to the address: email@example.com with the obligatory filling of the application form.
Works of at least 30x40 cm and no more than 70x90 cm, made in the techniques of the original drawing, are accepted: pencil, crayon, ink, gouache, acrylic (1-2 colors), sanguine, wet sauce, diatype.. Works in mixed technology, computer and other copying technologies are not accepted.
Works must be created in the last two years and be the property of the author (with the author's signature). On the back of the sheet in pencil it is necessary to indicate the full name of the author, title of work, year of creation, city. The work is sent without registration, but with the act of delivery to the exhibition and the participant’s application form (filled out in block letters).
Only professional artists participate in the competition of the Yelabuga Biennale of unique design (student works are not considered).
Works are sent to the address: 423600, Russia, Republic of Tatarstan, Yelabuga, Kazan str, 24, Exhibition Hall EGMZ, Podnoskovoj G.A.
Works are sent to the Biennale at the expense of the author no later than August 31, 2019 on a postmark. Works must be securely packed. Organizers are not responsible for damage to work prior to their receipt.
Obligations of the parties
1. Obligations of the organizers
The selection of works for participation in the Biennale and awarding is carried out by an independent authoritative jury. The Organizing Committee undertakes to:
- select 1 work of each artist in coordination with him for transfer to the funds of the Yelabuga State Museum-Reserve;
- upon completion of summing up the competition, to organize and hold an exhibition in the Exhibition Hall of the EGMZ;
- publish a catalog of the II Yelabuga Biennale of a unique design;
- send the participants of the final exhibition of the Biennale (for which the best works of the competition were selected) a free copy of the catalog after it was published.
2. Obligations of participants:
- to transfer 1 original graphic sheet, preferably by the choice of the State Unified State Institution, and exclusive rights to it under the contract of donation (attached), for further use, reproduction and publication of this work. The work goes to the collection of the State Budgetary Educational Institution of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan “Yelabuga State Historical-Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve” to replenish the Museum Fund of the Russian Federation;
- to allow the processing of their personal data in accordance with paragraph 4 of Art. 9 of the Federal Law dated July 27, 2006 No. 152- FL (Federal Law) “On Personal Data” (in order to prepare information for the catalog of works of participants in theYelabuga Biennale of a unique drawing).
Grand Prix - a premium of 25,000 rubles.
I place - a medal and a prize of 20 000 rubles.
II place - a medal and a prize of 15 000 rubles.
III place - a medal and a prize of 10 000 rubles.
Six titles of laureates.
Special diplomas of the jury of the Biennale.
Terms and conditions
The competition is held from February 1, 2019 to August 31, 2019.
An exhibition of works by the participants of the Yelabuga Biennale of a unique design will be on display in October 2019 at the EGMZ Museum of Contemporary Art. The opening date of the exhibition will be indicated in September 2019 on the site of the museum-reserve.
