The history of Art Symposiums begins from 2006, when the first All-Russian Plein air dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the birth of our countryman Ivan Shishkin and the forthcoming 1000th anniversary of Yelabuga was held. Practically immediately the Art Symposiums supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan with the participation of artists and masters of arts and crafts from Europe and Asia, have acquired an ethnic orientation. Since 2010, the project received international status.
Art project "Yelabuga Exlibris Triennial", which took start in 2012, has grown to an international level by joining in 2015 88 participants from 11 countries.
In total, in 11 years, the Museum-Reserve held 18 art projects, in which 570 artists from 20 countries took part: Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Hungary, Egypt, India, Kazakhstan, Canada, Kyrgyzstan, China, Russia , Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Czechia, Montenegro, Scotland (United Kingdom). In total they have created more than 1000 works, which were transferred to the Museum-Reserve funds for replenishment of the Museum Fund of the Russian Federation.
The first Yelabuga Biennale of Unique Drawing - it’s a competition, which will support and assist in the development of the original drawing and attracting the attention of professional artists.
The event is held in the form of absentee competition with the selection of works sent to the address of the Museum-Reserve, and the organization of the final exhibition of the participants.
Stage 1: until July 20, 2017 images of works in digital format TIFF, JPEG (not less than 300 dpi, 18 cm on the large side) should be submitted to the organizing committee. Each image is sent in a separate file. Each file is signed: name, title of the work. Works are accompanied by the Application in Microsoft Word format, where full information about the author (name, year of birth, address, telephone, E-mail), information about the submitted works (author's name, title of the work, year of creation, technique, size (height-width, сm) The number of images proposed for stage 1 should not exceed five.
Stage 2: works that have been selected must be sent before September 1, 2017 (by postmark).
– support and further development of the traditional classical drawing, the popularization of the current level of the drawing;
– revival of interest of contemporary artists to traditional and classical techniques and the art of drawing;
– analysis of the current state of this direction in art of Russia which it is possible at the level of creative communication and exchange of ideas of recognized masters.
Technical conditions of the Biennale
Participation is by invitation of curators of the exhibition or individual with a preview from the side of the organizing committee. Individual participation - through virtual exhibitions; send photos at: email@example.com with obligatory filling the questionnaire.
The works for participation are accepted in size 40x60 cm, 60x80 cm, 70x90 cm (maximum) made in any manner of the original drawing: pencil, colored pencil, ink, gouache (1-2 colors), acrylic (1-2 colors), scratchboard, wet sauce and diatipiya.
We do not accept the work performed in mixed technique, pastels, linocuts, etching, dry point, aquatint, mezzotint, engraving on wood, cardboard, lithography, woodcut, silkscreen, using computer technology and other duplicating technologies.
The number of works by one author should be no more than three (3).
The works should be created in the last two years; they should be the property of the author (with the author's signature).
It is necessary to indicate with a pencil on the reverse side of the sheet the author's name, the title of the work, year of creation, the city.
The works are sent without decoration, but with the act of delivery to the exhibition and with the application form filled by the participant (to be filled in block letters).
Only professional artists can take part in the contest of Yelabuga Biennial of the Unique Drawing (student works are not considered).
Works should be sent to the address

Works should be sent to the Biennale at the expense of the author no later than August 31, 2017 by postmark. Works must be securely packed. The organizers are not responsible for the damage to the works before they are received.
Obligations of parties
1. Obligations of the organizers
The selection of works for participation in the Biennale and giving awards is carried out by an independent authoritative jury. The Organizing Committee undertakes:
– after selecting 1 work of each artist in agreement with him for transfer to the funds of Yelabuga State Museum-Reserve, return the remaining works through the curator or to the artist's address before the end of December 2018;
– upon completion of summing up the results of the competition, organize and hold an exhibition in the Exhibition Hall of the Yelabuga State Museum-Reserve;
– sending to all the participants of the Biennale a free copy of the catalog after it is printed.
2. Obligations of participants
– to make an entrance fee: 1 original graphic sheet (the gift agreement is attached, it is necessary to fill in the passport data), preferably at the choice of the Yelabuga State Museum-Reserve, with the transfer to the Museum-Reserve of exclusive right for further use, reproduction and publication of this work. The work is submitted to the collection of the State Budgetary Institution of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan "Yelabuga State Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve" for replenishment of the Museum Fund of the Russian Federation.
Grand Prix — a prize of 25 000 rubles.
I place — a prize of 20 000 rubles;
II place — a prize of 15 000 rubles;
III place — a prize of 10 000 rubles;
Six titles of Laureates.
Special Diplomas of the Jury of Biennale.

Yelabuga Biennale of the Unique Drawing will be exhibited in October 2017 in the Exhibition Hall of Yelabuga State Museum-Reserve. The exhibition opening date will be indicated in September 2017 on the site of the Museum-Reserve.
